Ferry Athens-Ancona

Athens-Ancona is a popular ferry line that has been in service for over 30 years. The crossing takes approx. 21 hours (check the detailed timetable by searching online). The route is now operated by Minoan Lines and Anek-Superfast Ferries which have their own car and passenger ferries Cruise Europa, Cruise Olympia, Superfast XI, Superfast XII, Olympic Champion, Hellenic Spirit going back and forth between the two countries. They offer multiple daily departures on the ferry route from Athens to Ancona.

Please note that you will need to check in at least 2 hours before departure in Greece. Foot and vehicle passengers need to show up in the Terminal (here's also the check-in office, where you get your boarding tickets).

Important notice: The ferry journey from Athens to Ancona isn't operated! Please search for the itinerary from Patras to Ancona (frequent bus service from Athens to Patras).

The access to the port Igoumenitsa:
- by the Egnatia Odos motorway with code number Ε90
- by the National Road Igoumenitsa-Ioannina-Metsovo-Trikala with code number Ε-90/Ε-92 and with Ε-92 for the section from prefectures of Ioannina and Trikala boarders.
- by the National Road Igoumenitsa-Preveza with code number Ε55.

b) Patras
Passenger Terminal - South Port of Patras

The access to the port Patras:
Coming from Athens or Pyrgos, moving along the Patras Bypass (PB), it is possible to reach the port using these alternative routes:
-Exit the PB at the Glaucus Junction-Glaucus highway under construction-Akti Dymeon-Gate A
-Exit the PB at the Glaucus Junction-EXIT D Ovria Junction-Andr. Papandreu Street-Akti Dymeon-Gate A
-Exit the PB at the Glaucus Junction-Clauss-E. Venizelos-Akti Dymeon-Gate A

-Passenger vehicles may also reach the South Port through the Corinth-Patras National Road-Kanellopoulou Str.-Iroon Polytechniou Str.-Othonos-Amalias Str.-Akti Dymeon.

The same goes for the Terminal in Ancona. Check-in must happen at least 2 hours before departure. The check-in office is in the Terminal, and as foot and vehicle passenger you can get your boarding tickets here.

The access to the port Ancona:
When arriving from the north: Take the exit "Ancona Nord" off the A14 Highway. Go straight at the traffic light and take the SS16 in the direction of Ancona. Leave the motorway at Torrette di Greece and follow the directions for the city center. Entering the city, turn right and pass through the industrial zone, following the directions for "PORTO IMBARCHI" ("PORT - EMBARCATION"). Turn left at the traffic light and, after approximately 250 m., you will find yourself at the entrance to the port area.

When arriving from the south: Take the exit " Ancona Sud" off the A14 Highway. Go straight for approximately 400 m., until you reach the intersection for Ancona's city center (turn left). Take the first exit heading downtown and get on another elevated motorway. Carry on straight and enter the downtown area. At the roundabout, turn left and get on Via Martiri della Resistenza (leaving a tunnel to your right). At the 1st traffic light, go straight to Via De Gasperi and travel it for its entire length. At the 3rd traffic light, turn right and take Via Marconi; proceed to another traffic light, staying in the left lane. Drive past the light, following the directions for "PORTO IMBARCHI" ("PORT - EMBARKATION") and after 250 metres you will find the entrance to the port area.
