Pets on board

Take your pets with you on board any ship and choose between animal-friendly inside and outside cabins, animal boxes or simple deck passage!

Can my pet be taken into the cabin?

All boats have special inside or outside cabins that can accommodate pets. These cabins offer the same service as normal cabins, but have linoleum floors, odor ducts and pads that ensure the best possible care and hygiene. Up to 3 pets can be accommodated with their owner in a pet-friendly cabin.

There are only a limited number of these cabins. Check availability directly online. If you do not find the "animal cabin" accommodation, then there is no such cabin for the requested date.

An additional charge may be made for accommodation of pets in cabins at the time of booking or when checking in at the port office.

Can my pet travel with me?

You can safely take your pet with you. Your little four-legged friend is always welcome on the ferries! However, your pet must have a valid pet passport.

Today's modern ferries are equipped in such a way that you can travel safely and comfortably with your pet. It is important to follow the instructions for animals on board and remember that your four-legged friend must also have a ticket.

Passengers must indicate when checking in at the port or during embarkation whether they will be accompanied by an animal during the ferry crossing.

In which areas of the ship can my pet travel?

Animals can easily walk with their owners on the ship's outer decks, but to do so they must be kept on a leash and muzzled. They are not allowed to operate in the restaurants and saloons on board and other enclosed spaces in which passengers are accommodated. Only certified service animals are allowed inside the ship.

Small pets including dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, small birds and fish must be transported in their cage or in a suitable container. For larger pets, on the other hand, there are special accommodations on the ship that can be used during the trip.

All ships have designated areas with kennels (boxes) for pets. These areas are also suitable for feeding and refreshing your pets.

An additional fee may be charged for pet kennel accommodation upon booking or upon check-in at the port office.

Pets may not be left in your parked vehicle in the ship's garage.

What applies to passengers with disabilities who are accompanied by trained pets?

Disabled passengers accompanied by specially trained domestic animals must have the relevant and valid documents/certificates allowing the animal to remain with the owner throughout the crossing and to accompany him at all times in all areas of the ship.

What documents do I need to travel with my pet?

The pet owner must carry certain mandatory documents and a medical certificate for each animal.

Traveling with pets between Schengen countries or from a Schengen country to a non-Schengen country requires:

  • pet passport

For Greek and Italian destinations:

  • Registration in the pet registry (registered microchip)
  • Health certificate from the veterinarian

Dogs, cats and ferrets entering the EU from Tunisia or Morocco must be identified with a microchip or clearly legible tattoo. The following documents must be presented upon embarkation:

  • Health certificate according to Annex IV of the Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 577/2013
  • Copy of the certificate with electronic animal identification data
  • Copy of rabies vaccination certificate
  • In addition to vaccination, pets must undergo what is known as "antibody titration", which requires specific testing in an EU-recognized laboratory at least one month after rabies vaccination to determine if there is a minimum level of protection (above 0.5 ul/ml)
  • The test result must be accompanied by the documentation to be presented upon embarkation and the minimum level of protection resulting from the tests must be indicated on the veterinary certificate or passport
What happens to my pet if I book camping on board?

It is allowed to have animals with you during the crossing in the mobile home or caravan if you have booked camping on board.

However, if the noise disturbs other passengers, the animal must be placed in one of the boxes provided. This option is free.
