History of Bonifacio

The "Mediterranean's Sentinel" and the "City of Cliffs" are Bonifacio's nicknames. Bonifacio is an ancient town of Corsica, known mostly for its strategic position on a huge cliff, overlooking the Strait of Bonifacio that seperates Corsica with Sardinia. The city is also famous for its antique streets and buildings, monasteries and landmarks. Do not let the fact that it is a rocky town mislead you, for the reason that Bonifacio has some great beaches for swimming and sunbathing. Of course, trekking is a famous activity that can be done in Bonifacio too, especially to the stairway of King Aragon Alfonso the Fifth. Just do not forget to bring your camera with you since the views are one of a kind!
