Electronic Ferry Ticket

What is an Electronic Ferry Ticket
An e-ticket carries the same information as a paper ticket. The major difference is an e-ticket is located in a ferry's computer database, instead of the passenger's suitcase.
To book themselves on a ferry, travelers can visit goferry's web site. Once there, they can view the options available and use a credit or debit card to pay for their ticket. After placing the order, the electronic record of the ferry ticket goes into the ferry's database, where it holds the passenger's spot.
A confirmation number is assigned to the passenger, along with the journey information like date, departure location, a destination location, accommodation category etc. When checking in at the harbor, the passenger simply presents positive identification (booking number, full name, etc). Then necessary boarding tickets are issued, and the passenger can proceed to board the ferry.
Electronic ferry ticket has virtually replaced traditional paper ticket in the majority of harbors and ferry lines around the world. The principal advantage of the e-ticket is the fact that it reduces booking expense by eliminating the need for printing and mailing paper documents. Another advantage is that it eliminates the possibility of critical documents getting lost in the mail or being sent to the wrong address.
