Athens International Airport is 38km east of Piraeus harbour and well connected to the port by public transportation.
  • Take the Metro Line 3 from the airport terminal to Monastiraki Square (city center), go up and take the green line 1 to Pireas station exactly out of the Pireas port. The trip from the Airport to Monastiraki station and to Piraeus harbour lasts 60 to 70 minutes. Trains run every 30 minutes, 7 days a week from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
  • Take the public Bus X96 from airport terminal (between doors 4 and 5) to Karaiskaki Square in Piraeus, right outside the ferry harbor. The bus leaves every 20 minutes during the day and every 40 minutes at night and the trip takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes to one hour and a half.
  • Take a Taxi: book a taxi online in advance and let your driver be waiting for you upon your arrival. The drive takes 45 to 60 minutes and cost approx. 55 to 60 Euros.


  • By Metro: The Green Line goes to Piraeus station exactly out of Pireaus port. If you’re coming from Syntagma, Plaka, or Omonia you’ll need to switch trains at Monastiraki station to get on the Green Line. The metro runs from 5am to midnight and the trip takes approx. 20-25 minutes. 24-hour ticket (2018): 4,50 Euro.
  • By public Bus: Take the bus nr. 040 from Syntagma Square or nr. 049 from Omonia Square to Piraeus port (Karaiskaki Square), right outside the ferry harbor. The bus runs every 15 minutes, 7 days/24 hours and the trip takes about 25 to 35 minutes. One-Way ticket (2018): 1,40 Euro.
  • By Taxi: A taxi will normally take about 20 minutes to drive from Omonoia or Syntagma area to the port of Piraeus. The distance is about 10 km and cost (2018) approx. 15-20 Euro. Best is to pre-arrange the taxi drive to Piraeus with your hotel receptionist.
